Milwaukee’s 2013-2014 Season Will Include War Horse, The Phantom of the Opera and More

A trusty horse and a mysterious phantom are heading to Milwaukee. The 2013-2014 Broadway season will feature the 2011 Best Play winner, War Horse, as well as the Broadway classic The Phantom of the Opera. The season lineup will also include Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Evita, Flashdance and Jersey Boys. All shows will play Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center.

Jersey Boys will play Milwaukee as a season special from October 16, 2013 through October 27. The Broadway blockbuster takes audiences behind the scenes of music sensation Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The show includes such hits as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Oh What a Night.”

It’ll be sure to be a white Christmas in Milwaukee when Irving Berlin’s classic musical arrives from November 26, 2013 through December 1. White Christmas tells the story of two showbiz buddies who put on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn and find their perfect mates in the process. The show features the timeless songs from the 1954 film, including “Happy Holiday,” “White Christmas” and “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm.”

War Horse, winner of five Tony Awards, will run from January 7, 2014 through January 12. Using extraordinary puppets, War Horse tells the story of young Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France at the outbreak of World War I. Albert, unable to forget Joey and still not old enough to enlist, embarks on a mission to find his horse and bring him home.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s acclaimed musical Evita will tango into Milwaukee from February 4, 2014 through February 9. Based on Argentina’s historic icon Eva Peron, the musical tells the story of the young woman who used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the country’s slums to the presidential mansion as First Lady. Evita tells Peron’s unforgettable true story, while featuring some of musical theater’s most famous songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored."

Flashdance will shimmy onto the Milwaukee stage from March 4, 2014 through March 9. Based on the hit 1983 movie, Flashdance tells the story of Alex, a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. The show features the hit songs from the movie, “Flashdance—What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” and 10 original songs.

Another Lloyd Webber’s classic will swoop onto the Milwaukee stage when an all-new production of The Phantom of the Opera opens on July 23, 2014 and runs through August 3, 2014. Following an acclaimed sell-out tour of the United Kingdom, Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of the hit musical will embark on a new US tour. Featuring a brilliant new production and costume design and new staging, the thrilling love triangle between the mysterious Phantom, Christine and Raoul will come alive all over again.
